According to the video, "Google Boys," Larry and Sergey, two PhD students at Stanford University, created the internet search engine Google. It started off as a simple idea from the boys who hoped to create a quick and easy way for anyone to search on the internet. When Google started becoming popular, the boys realized they needed more money for the program and started getting investors like Andy, who wrote them a check for $100,000. Google faced many challenges. One challenge was that the information on the website was not always completely accurate. Another challenge Google faced is they had to compete with other web designs and engines including Microsoft, Yahoo, and Apple. The Google boys found that they were able to stay ahead of the competition with new ideas that no other company has thought of like a search engine devoted solely to images. Google is able to find its information using a system of page rank, which finds the popularity of pages by keeping track of how many people view each page. Then it uses this information to sort pages by relevance of a searched topic.
